The teaching topics dealt with in the context of mechanical technologies are the following:
First level mechanical technology: some fundamental aspects will be introduced for the study of the production processes used in the manufacturing industry, specifically the processes for chip removal. Particular attention will be paid to the study of mechanical metrology including surface micro and nano-geometry, of machining by chip removal considering the kinematics and mechanics of orthogonal cutting, theoretical models, machines, shape generation, kinematics, structures, transducers and numerical control.
Advanced mechanical technology: will provide insights into cutting and abrasion processes, envelope processes (gear wheels and metrological controls), NC machines and their programming (ISO codes), optimization of processing, non-traditional processes, EDM, Rapid Prototyping and Reverse Engineering.
General materials technologies: the course will provide knowledge of the concepts of tension and deformation and describe the laws that bind them together, in the elastic and plastic fields. Particular importance is given to the description of the plastic deformation processes of materials such as rolling, extrusion, and drawing.
